Okanagan Transit Alliance Fundraising

The Okanagan Transit Alliance (OTA) is committed to creating a publicly-managed transit system that prioritizes safety, sustainability, accessibility, and community engagement. As our region grows, we recognize the urgent need for a transit solution that meets the diverse transportation needs of our residents while fostering a sense of community and accountability. The OTA has existed since 2022, and became an officially registered society in 2024. Ongoing funding supports the OTA's expenses, including event planning, website maintenance, printing, and more - which are key to our ongoing advocacy for the Okanagan region.

Our Vision:

We envision a transit system that serves as a reliable backbone for our communities, ensuring that every resident can access essential services, employment opportunities, and recreational activities without barriers. Our approach is guided by three fundamental principles:

Public Accountability: Public transit must be accountable to the community it serves, with decision-making processes that are transparent and responsible. We believe that local governance should drive our transit initiatives, ensuring that services align with the unique needs of Okanagan residents.

Accessibility for All: Our transit system must be inclusive, welcoming, and reliable for everyone. This means designing services that are accessible to all community members, regardless of age, ability, or financial circumstance. We are committed to eliminating barriers to transit access, including affordability, to ensure that no one is left behind.

Community-Driven Solutions: Our transit services will be developed in collaboration with the community, focusing on the diverse needs and preferences of our residents. By engaging with local stakeholders, we aim to create a transit system that reflects the values and priorities of the Okanagan community.
