A Chance To Be Raised By Our Father
One of the best people I know, hardworking and honest, my dear friend Maxim was diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 34. The diagnosis was confirmed in September 2014 in the most inappropriate moment of their lives, when only three months left for their third baby to be born. His pregnant wife offered him all the support a person can ever do, she spent day and night with her husband in the hospital and still continues to do it. Day by day children are impatiently waiting for their father wondering when he will be back home… . Here is their story:
This diagnoses – cancer, turned our entire world upside down. My husband and I were living a normal life, working and happily raising our children: beloved eldest girl Ameli - 3.2 years old, our little boy Arthur - 1.5 years old, and tremblingly waiting for our third child.
A surgery was carried out immediately after the diagnoses, but it didn’t solve the problem as the cancer managed to metastasize into the colon. Doctors prescribed a series of intensive courses of chemotherapy using very aggressive and strong medicine within an interval of two weeks per each course. Maxim's body reacted to these aggressive medications and complications appeared immediately, he had to undergo the second surgery. In October 2014 he had a colostomy surgery. It was very hard and painful going through the surgery once again and the process of recovering was long and extremely difficult because of the weakened body and the unbearable pain…but we decided that no matter how hard it is and how much it takes, we should keep on fighting and never give up as we have the responsibility of raising our three little children together!
Maxim continued with chemotherapy but each new course was more difficult than the previous one, due to his weakened body. Finally, after many ups and downs he got stable and the remission of cancer BEGAN! During this extremely difficult and stressful period for our family, God helped us and protected our unborn baby-girl, in November 2014 our little girl Maria was born! Unfortunately, Maxim could not share and support us in those happy moments as he was recovering in the hospital. Knowing that Maria is fine and healthy was the happiest news we could ever get at that moment. It was very hard to balance between the joy that brings the beginning of a new life and the fear of losing the beloved one, the father of three small children!
We know that it is a long way to go and we need all the love, care and support that we can get. We have already sold all that was possible and used the 40.000 US dollars for the treatment. But Maxim still has to continue with the chemotherapy and it is about 7.500 US dollars per month. Doctors plan a third surgery after which Maxim can get a real chance to fight and win the battle with cancer. Maxim more than anything else wants to return to a normal and happy life that we had before along with our precious children who adore and miss their father a lot !!!!
There is NOTHING in this world that our big family wants more: Please help us and give a chance to our father to survive! We need him !
