Mrs. Bauer's New Furnace

This is difficult for us to ask for help, but our mom desperately needs it.  The past few months she has been having a difficult time financially.  Her pension from teaching for 35 years is not enough to afford the upkeep of her house.  As most of you know, Mrs. Bauer suffers from Alzheimer's disease.  We have been trying to keep her home for as long as possible because we feel it is important to keep her in a comfortable familiar environment.  Lately, we have been noticing an issue with her 25 year old furnace and knew it wouldn't be long before it needed replaced.  That day has finally come.  A furnace repairman came out today and the cost to replace her furnace with a newer used model is $2000.  At this time, she doesn't have the money to pay for it.  We didn't have any other option than to ask for help from family and friends. Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated.  Please know that my mother doesn't understand the world the way we do anymore because of this ugly disease. She doesn't understand why she has no money or why she has to pay for things. We've done our best to manage her finances appropriately, but it hasn't allowed us to have a cushion for such emergencies.  While she probably would be embarrassed that we are asking for help, please know she will also be so incredibly grateful to remain  in her warm home.
