Oil-Dri's Holiday Food Drive
Tax deductible
Dear Oil-Dri Team,
Over the past eight years our Presents for Pediatrics Holiday Toy Drive has donated upwards of 1,000 toys and nearly $10,000 in monetary donations to children and families in need.
Let’s bring back the cheer again this year. Please join us in supporting communities in-need this holiday season!
After consulting with our friends at Rush and discussing the many challenges caused by COVID-19, we have determined there is a grave need to support Chicago’s hardest-hit communities beyond the walls of the Children’s Hospital. Therefore, in lieu of our annual toy drive and holiday party we are proud to be partnering with Rush and Top Box Foods , an organization that delivers nutritious food to families in-need on Chicago’s West Side. With this program, we believe the giving spirit of the Oil-Dri team will have a greater reach and impact this year.
$43 can feed a family of 4 for 1.5 weeks with fresh food including ingredients for a holiday dinner. Our goal is to feed 150 families. Oil-Dri will match our teammate’s donations dollar-for- dollar up to a total of $10,000! Once the goal of $6,450 is met, additional funds raised will be given to the Rush Pediatric Respite Fund as an unrestricted donation. Our friends at Rush can purchase toys, clothing or any other need they determine.
We understand that these are challenging times but hope those who are able will consider supporting this cause. We also ask for your help in spreading awareness of the communities that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. These neighborhoods are considered food deserts, or geographic areas where residents’ access to affordable, healthy food options (especially fresh fruits and vegetables) is restricted or nonexistent due to the absence of grocery stores within convenient traveling distance. In Chicago alone, more than 500,000 residents live in food deserts, and an additional 400,000 residents live in neighborhoods with a prevalence of fast-food restaurants and lack of grocery stores.
Please watch the short video below from food drives conducted recently.
There is no obligation to participate as I am sure that many of you are already giving to other worthy causes. This effort is just an extra way to show WE CARE and to give thanks for all we have.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!
