On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, Kenny was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5 - End-stage renal failure. His renal function was reduced to 15%, indicating he will need a kidney transplantation. While we begin the transplant process his kidney function continuous to decrease.
Kenny is a compassionate and caring 26 year old. He was born with Down Syndrome but has never viewed his diability as a setback. He lives in Round Rock, TX with his mom and dad. He loves swimming, watching movies, swinging on the swing set at the park by his house and playing with his dog and cats. He is an absolute joy to be around and brings so much happiness to everyone he meets. He loves his family dearly, especially his 3 year old Nephew, Reznor.
Texas Medicaid Programs do not provide coverage for living donor transplants. The only coverage provided would be for a non-living donor. The current kidney transplant list has a wait of 5 years. Kenny needs a transplant before he would be eligible off the National Registry. As a family, we have begun the process of determining donor compatibility. This road is going to be long and uneasy. With your support and Kenny's smiling face as inspiration to knock down challenges and defy odds we will be able to add decades of quality years to Kenny's life.
