Ezra's Battle

My dear and courageous friend, Maj. Aaron Nida, and his very brave and special son, Ezra, need all of your prayers and warmest thoughts.  Ezra has been battling Leukemia for some time, and due to his chemotherapy treatments, he has had an incredibly vulnerable immune system.

On his fifth birthday, Ezra was life-flighted to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH from Huntington, WV with pneumonia. That was back on February 9th, and Aaron has only left his bedside to eat or go to the hospital chapel. The bout has done some degree of damage to Ezra's heart, and at present, he is sedated and breathing through a tracheal tube while in strict isolation. Adding to the complications in treatment, Ezra was born with Down Syndrome.

Ezra is such a happy, brave and special little soldier who has been seemingly winning his long battle with childhood Leukemia. 

Ezra's greatest need at the moment is PRAYER.  That being said, Ezra's father has declined financial support on numerous occasions.  As time has gone by, however, it has become apparent to Ezra's family that donations may be necessary.  That's where GoFundMe and I come in.  We are trying to raise as much money as possible to help Aaron and Kathleen (Ezra's mom) with the costs associated with this troubling time (ranging from medical to cost of living expenses while away from work).  

The family has stated that a donation to Restore Elikia--orphan care in the Congo supported by Ezra's doctor--or Ronald McDonald House Charities would be just as appreciated as one to Ezra.  If you choose to do so, it is my personal recommendation that such a contribution to one of those charities be done in Ezra Nida's name.  As Aaron said to me, "Too many others are in worse shape and more need."  He is an incredibly humble man with overwhelming compassion for so many.  Because of this, any surplus of funds raised for Ezra will be given to those charities.
