ÖG Theatre Edinburgh Fringe 2018
HELLO!
We are Östgöta Nation Theatre Company, formed out of Östgöta Nation in Uppsala, Sweden. The original company (Emma Betsy Welton, Fanny Germaine Spiegelhalter, Jimmy Clee, Xenia Jöst, Elisabeth Asklöf and Rasmus Eriksson) have, over the last two months, made a play: "Good Things Come to Those Who." The purpose of this fundraiser, is because we are taking our play to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year (!!!!), and we just need a little help along the way to get there.
Our play is: a gameshow, dancing on dinner tables, buses which don't come, debt, a packet of Oreos, surveillance, multi-coloured wigs, poll projections like Jeremy Vine during an election, moving boxes, CVs, cakes with people's faces on them, waiting on messages which may or may not turn up. Our play is an exploration of our generation's relationship to work, debt, surveillance, private landlords the ever-shrinking amount of space we are afforded to be in. It is also friendship and love and hungover mornings with friends. 
Why the Edinburgh Fringe?
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the oldest and biggest festival of its kind in the world. We hope by going there not only to showcase what we have been working hard on, but to get the opportunity to meet other theatre makers and get to know lots of different kinds of work, for us to bring back to Uppsala, Sweden, and the other countries we live and hope to live in in the future.
Why are we asking for donations?
We've secured a venue, a great 50-seater black box theatre on the Royal Mile, and we need to pay for the rest of the cost of hiring the venue from 20-25 August. We need flights and accommodation for our cast to come from Sweden, Germany and the UK to perform in Edinburgh, and we need things like public liability insurance etc. More than half of the budgeted estimate of this fundraiser is for accommodation - so if what you can give is instead a cheap suggestion/somewhere for us to couch surf in terms of accommodation, that would be just as valuable! 
How soon would we need donations?
If you were considering donating to us (thank you!!), we want to be booking flights and accommodation as soon as possible so we can get cheaper deals. In May and June we have further payment instalments for our venue. We've applied to many funding organisations in Sweden for stipends, and also from our respective home universities/alumni universities in the UK for support with this project. We're holding fundraisers at ÖG nation in the form of pub quizzes and hopefully a club night in some form (another way you can support us is if you are based at another nation and you are interested in collaborating with us, it could be hosting a club night where a portion of the ticket fee could go to us! In exchange we would promote your nation on the poster both here in Uppsala for our play, and in Edinburgh to an international audience!) 
Any support you could provide us would be amazing. We're a group from Sweden, Germany and the UK, specialising in varied disciplines - from Literature to Political Science to Education to Sports Science, and our shared love for theatre is - we hope - expressing some big ideas important to all of these disciplines. Likewise, if you know of any arts organisations/EU grants etc we could apply for, let us know <3 
And - we would love you to come and see the show! It is on from 20-25 August at theSpaceUK on the Royal Mile, and we'll link the ticket link here as soon as it become available. If you're based in Sweden, the show is on at ÖG nation in Uppsala from 21-23 May, and we would love to see you there too.
