A small - but important - campaign.

I have an incredible opportunity to participate in a challenging mission in Nairobi, Kenya with seven peers this August and I am asking for support in raising funds to defer the cost of the trip.  We are joining forces with the Ray of Hope Learning Center, which serves as a bridge for young children living in the impoverished Kawangware slum, offering life skills, improving literacy and supporting their transition to the formal educational sector.

With an estimated 650,000 inhabitants, Kawangware is home to some of the poorest people in Kenya where HIV/AIDS is the #1 killer. Our specific mission is to help provide wellness and support - coupled with an extraordinary amount of unconditional love - to the children of Kawangware through storytelling, song, dance, arts, crafts and other outlets of creative expression. The children range from 3-14 in age. 

I have committed to my peers, and ultimately, to the children at the ROH Learning Center, to co-create and implement the curriculum our group will execute. It is an honor to contribute in this capacity: Ideas are worth spreading and YOUR creative suggestions are welcome. Our mission is guided by the aspirations and self-identified needs of the less fortunate communities in which we will work and we strive to accomplish this mission with respect, compassion and the core knowledge that we are all interconnected in the community of humanity.

While in Kenya, personal experiences will be shared with friends and family on a daily basis through blogging, photos and videos. I also invite everyone to go deeper with me as I share other experiences upon my return. And again, thank you for your consideration in making a donation.
