Martha Elrod's Medical Help

Well everything is on track to get a heart transplant in perhaps a month or two. I'm to get cancer checks because of family history of ovarian cancer, colonoscopy, mammograms, etc, These are all normal tests to make sure a donor heart is not given to someone who is dying of other things. It has been a strenuous time, lingering on promises that are never delivered, medications that aren't working anymore and hospitals and insurance companies who put me in the middle of the bureaucratic fights. Your help is needed more than ever at this crucial time. Anything you can give brings me one baby step closer to extending my life.  Just around the corner is the start of the anti-rejection drugs that are cataclysmic in cost and, listening to doctors, hard on the body.  I've been through so much already and am holding on tight to any strength I have left. I wish I had family left nearby to get me through some of the roughest times to come, but I have Tracy Hunter and my sister Mary that have carried what burden they could. I stay weak in body, but stalwart in mind and this omnipresent humor that those who know me best never leaves me. Any words of comfort, prayers, and knowledge can always be thrown my way and I welcome them.  I thank anyone who can or will help. Asking for help doesn't come naturally for me and is antithetical to my entire belief system, but I've  had to learn to be humble and it's been a harder lesson than algebra. Take care all and as I keep you all in my thoughts, please toss me one every now and then.
