Support for Ofc. Sherrard Memorial Highway Signs

We sadly remember when Richardson Police Officer David C. Sherrard was killed in the line of duty on February 7, 2018. The outpouring of support from the Community was truly something special to behold.

Recently, the Texas Legislature unanimously passed a bill sponsored by State Representatives Jeff Leach, Ana-Marie Ramos, Angie Chen Button and State Senator Angela Paxton that was signed by Governor Greg Abbott designating the section of Highway 75 Central Expressway in Richardson from the south city limits to the north city limits the Officer David Sherrard Memorial Highway.


There was agreement among the lawmakers that no public funds would be necessary to fund the two highway signs. The Texas Department of Transportation’s estimated cost is $24,168.



The Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (RCPAAA) is spearheading the fundraising efforts for this very worthy cause. We humbly ask that you contribute to the Highway Memorial signs.


Any funds collected in excess of the required sum will, in turn, be utilized to fund the Richardson Police Officer Memorial at the Public Safety Campus currently under construction at Belt Line and Greenville.
