Officer Arty Erle's recovery fund

Hey Everyone!
Wanted to provide an update on our friend Arty Erle, who has been nicknamed the “Miracle Man” by the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Jefferson University Hospital.
He was the recipient of a new liver after the tragic loss of Jamahri Sydnor. She was the daughter of a fellow police officer, D.C. Detective Sgt. Q Wallace. Our condolences and thanks go out to the Wallace/Sydnor family. Their lives will NEVER be the same, but their decision to donate their daughter’s organs to Arty, and other patients in need, will never be forgotten.
While the transplant was a success and Arty was awake and doing remarkably well the day after – he suddenly went into cardiac arrest and his heart stopped for 6 minutes before being resuscitated and placed on a ventilator. He was in a comatose state for nearly 2 weeks. The staff informed the family that they were concerned about brain activity and what the future would hold. As the days passed and things looked their most bleak, an early morning phone call from Arty’s nurse Kathy changed everything! The family was told that he was responding to verbal commands and even gave a thumbs up. Every day since that amazing phone call, Arty has progressed. After nearly a month in the Intensive Care Unit with so many highs and lows, this weekend he was finally well enough to go to the step down unit and was able to spend time with his daughter Brooke. Although it will be a long process, he thankfully is on the road to recovery!
With this progress brings new challenges. Arty will be going to a rehab facility soon and will have to take anti-rejection medication for rest of his life. With the unknown in regards to medical costs and his ability to return to work in a timely manner (or at all) we are starting a GoFundMe campaign to help offset these financial challenges.
Any form of support is greatly appreciated as Arty starts this new chapter of his life.
