<div>My name is Lacey, first of all I’m never one to ask for a hand out but at this point I need help.. I have used all my savings and currently have to take more time off work to stay with my daughter at the hospital.

<div>Heres A Run Down..
</div>

<div>Danielle got sick November 15th, the same sickness that had been running rapid through my house. She was on an antibiotic for a week, but was constantly throwing up so clearly at this point it didn’t work.
</div>
<div>She weakened on Sunday evening, the 24th of November.. Her breathing was shallow and she was being restricted from air.
</div>
<div>Danielle was rushed to BGH and right into Trauma, after 10mins I was told she was being admitted.. Lots of testing happening quickly, I was told her left lung was full of pneumonia and she had an asthma attack!
</div>

<div>The pediatrician came down to check her over, and next thing I knew she was going to be airlifted to KGH..
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Where she is currently in the PCCU at KGH.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>KGH told me what felt like instantly that a pathologist would be meeting with me..
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That’s when I learned very quickly that Danielle was going to be tested for Leukemia.
</div>
<div>So yesterday afternoon she underwent a bone marrow biopsy and we just learned our beautiful girl has Acute Myeloid Leukemia
</div>

</div>
<div>So there is A LOT going on, she’s stable on the machines for her breathing, she’s been given numerous antibiotics and steroids and everything blood related is separate from the respiratory..
</div>

</div>

<div>This is one of the scariest times of my life and I want to THANK EVERYONE for your well wishes, your prayers, your support for my baby!

<div>UPDATE NOV 29
</div>
<div>Yesterday we found out that Danielle’s heart is functioning at 48% a normal heart function is 55-65%. The cardiologist looked and said it hasn’t been a long time thing so they are contacting BHG to see if she had a heart attack of some kind on the Sunday we were there..

<div>Going forward, they are waiting until Monday to start Chemo so her heart has sometime to improve.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 02
</div>
<div>Danielles heart has improved its back functioning between 55-60%!
</div>
<div>Chemo is STARTING!
</div>
<div>She is starting physio to get everything moving again, it’s been a rough few weeks.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 05
</div>
<div>Danielles blood counts are low, she will be getting a blood transfusion this afternoon and her 4th dose of chemo in this round.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 07
</div>
<div>Danielle has been feeling ROUGH, AML has the strongest treatments to start with I’ve been told.
</div>
<div>She has went for a CT tonight.. She has a had a high fever for 3 days and they’re going to see if there is any blockage due to what is coming up!
</div>

<div>She also got her genetics testing back and has the gene that is high risk for repeat, but also has a mutation that balances it. She will be on a long term medication to help prevent it from coming back.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 08
</div>
<div>CT showed that Danielle has, Typhlitis, which means Inflamed Intestines. All of her nutrients will now be through IV, she is only allowed to drink water.

<div>UPDATE DEC 09
</div>
<div>Danielle is sitting at a High Risk of needing a Bone Marrow Transplant.
</div>
<div>Danielle’s liver is also swollen on top of everything else happening to this sweet girl.
</div>
<div>She is being watched closely by multiple teams of doctors.
</div>
<div>Also, as of today we are on blood transfusion #3 and she also had to get a platelet infusion.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 11
</div>
<div>Last day of the first round of chemo!
</div>
<div>Danielles counts are still low, but coming up on their own (THIS IS HUGE!)
</div>
<div>Her liver is also looking good I was told this morning.
</div>
<div>They did find two benign cysts on her kidneys but it’s okay because they’re benign.
</div>
<div>Her intestines are still swollen, and she is still being fed through the IV.
</div>
<div>Her mouth is slowly going to get better but it all takes time.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 26
</div>
<div>Happy Holidays Everyone.
</div>
<div>Yesterday Danielle got a day pass, it was so lovely to spend it with our family together.
</div>
<div>Danielle hadn’t seen some of them in over a month.
</div>
<div>Danielle has had multiple transfusions; blood and platelet.
</div>
<div>This morning her oncologist said he loved the look of her counts and she will be able to come home for a day or so before her next round.
</div>
<div>It’s important we get those braces off!!
</div>
<div>I haven’t seen her so happy ever in my life as I did yesterday.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 28
</div>
<div>For a few days now we have been telling the nurses and doctors that Danielle’s PICC line has been bothering her.
</div>
<div>Today we learned that she has a blood clot around the PICC line of 12.5cm (which is huge!)
</div>
<div>She now has to get injections to thin the blood around the line.
</div>

<div>UPDATE DEC 30
</div>
<div>Danielle will start round 2 Jan 7th, she will under go her second bone marrow biopsy tomorrow!
</div>

<div>UPDATE JAN 02
</div>
<div>Danielle had her bone marrow biopsy and we will find out the results when we go back TUESDAY! So excited for her (and myself!) to be home and discharged from the hospital.
</div>
<div>She will also be getting another PICC Line they did pull the old one which had the blood clot around it.
</div>

<div>UPDATE JAN 08
</div>
<div>It was so lovely being home for 5 days !!!!
</div>
<div>Round 2 started yesterday.
</div>
<div>New PICC line, LP (with Chemo), Readmitted and treatment.
</div>
<div>This round is 8 consecutive days and we will see how she does. (fingers are crossed!)
</div>
<div>Great news though, they aren’t seeing any immature cells in the bloodwork which is amazing!! Just waiting on the bone marrow biopsy results.
</div>

<div>UPDATE JAN 15
</div>
<div>SCREAMING FROM THE TOP OF MY LUNGS; Danielle doesn’t need a transplant, numbers have come down significantly. Still two more rounds of chemo.

</div>
<div>Cannot believe that it has been this long. 
</div>
<div>All of March Danielle was delayed to start her 4th round because her counts did not recover enough. 
</div>
<div>It was a bitter sweet though, and much needed out of hospital stay for my girl. She was able to spend time with those that love her in her own space and even go out shopping! 
</div>

<div>February was a lot. Danielles CHEMO was 24hrs for 6days straight.
</div>
<div>She was put on heart failure medication because her heart decreased again and went down to functioning at 42%, although it has now started to function at 55% again the cardiologist is not 100% sure if its because of the medication or her own body, so she will be followed by him for a year as well as staying on the medication for a year. 
</div>

<div>February we also learned that Danielle will need 5 rounds instead of 4, and she had started CHEMO pills to attack the gene that she has (the one that means she will relapse!) Danielle will be on those CHEMO pills for some years to come. 
</div>

<div><strong>Also, I was hoping to return to work come May but with Danielle being delayed the month of March and still two more rounds to go I will be going back in September. </strong>
</div>

At 15 she has worked hard enough to graduate a year early (hopefully she becomes well enough to stay on track, that’s still her goal), and has a passion for Science and Law. She has had a part time job since she was 14. She has a passion for sports, and has played House League Baseball for several years.
