The Studio of Performing Arts ( SOPA) is reaching out to the community to find hidden talent and give that talent an ability to shine. SOPA is a dance and peforming arts studio based in Grover Beach , California.
SOPA has been a fixture of the Five Cities area for over 20 years. Sopa's Artistic Director, Shannon Lowrie, has decided to make 2015 a year of giving back and that is where you come in.
With arts education in schools disappearing or non-existent, many talented youth don't have access to arts education or performance opportunities. In an effort to reach out and involve the community at-large, we are asking you for your support to host a community dance and drama talent competition for the ages of 5-18.
Your tax-deductible donation will go to funding nine (9) year-long scholarships for classes and performance opportunities at SOPA. SOPA will offer nine (9) total scholarships in dance and drama. Three (3) of the scholarships will be new dance student scholarships; three (3) will be new drama student scholarships ; and three (3) will be dance or drama scholarships for current SOPA students.
The Talent Competition will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Studio of Performing Arts located at 805 W. Grand Ave. in Grover Beach. All participants will receive one (1) free month of dance or drama classes at SOPA. Information regarding SOPA, including class schedules and offerings can be found at SOPA's Website .
