Building a new School in Ecuador

Donation protected

In the small coastal town of Canaveral in Ecuador, children from low-income fishing and shrimp-farming families are losing their school. A modest Jesuit school has provided free education to the children of Canaveral for many years, but the grounds where the school is currently located are being taken away. The Jesuit community was able to purchase another parcel of land, but unfortunately there is not enough money to build the school.

We are four friends from Quito, Ecuador who recently celebrated our 50th high school reunion. On a visit to Canaveral last year, we learned about this situation and agreed to work together to help build a new school for these children.

As a group, we have already hired qualified architects to design the new school building, and formed an agreement with the Jesuit community to assume maintenance and operation costs. We are creating a trust that will control the donations and expenses of building the school with a goal to reach $20,000.

Friends, the young children of this small town in coastal Ecuador need our help. We invite you to extend your hands joining ours in generosity so that together, we may provide a decent school in which the children of Canaveral may grow physically and intellectually.

Thank you.
