October Surprise! Pet, Plumbing Mayhem

DEC 5:

Ceiling is finished. Cat is cared for. Things are paid. We had to tap into household funds, though, so please consider pitching in. 

UPDATE NOV 10:

Tests from vet indicate that Dum has advanced megacolon, plus spinal damage of unknown origin.  Aggressive daily treatment and dietary changes will be required to  keep him from needing major intestinal surgery. 

AND  We had Plumbing Crisis #3. 

No, really.  The tub faucet failed, and was running hot water constantly.  And because our house is old and has WTF plumbing, with solder and galvanized pipe where it shouldn't be, it needs a plumber to fix, to the tune of around *another* $900. 

*headdesk*

UPDATE NOV 3RD:

Tweedle Dum's GI issues have gone from "responding to home treatment" to he's in pain and home care isn't cutting it. So we have an appointment with the vet this afternoon to see what can be done.  And since the gaping hole in my ceiling is covered in plastic, nothing is leaking anymore, and it can bide until later- the money raised here is going to focus on getting Dum the care he needs. 

Plumbing Drama #1- all of the plumbing under the sink needed rebuilt. $2500

Pet Drama #1- Health issues needing major tests and treatment $1500

Plumbing Drama #2- Pipe leak in ceiling. $1000

If it was *one* of these, we'd muddle though.  All three of them in the span of 3 weeks? Not so much. Not without getting a horribly high interest loan, or skipping the mortgage, or someother thing that would kick the credit we're rebuilding in the ass. 

*SIGH*.

The GOOD NEWS is that we were able to get a private loan for PD#1, and our homeowners insurance covered all the demolition for PD#2.  We also have a credit card for a small portion of the pet expenses. 

So this goal is for:
~Covering the homeowners deductible AND/OR paying out of pocket for replacing the insulation and ceiling drywall in our living room (currently under plastic), plus some electrical repair. 

~Covering the portion of the vet bills not coverable with credit- this includes xrays, possibly an kidney ultrasound, and major dental work. 

As always, every little bit helps, and we appreciate everyone's support, generosity, and indulgence as we throw small hissy fits about the amount of chaos that descends upon our household regularly.  

Note- we're using a throw away email account for this, because we had a creepy stalker in the past. o.O
