Octavia Book Bindery and the Angus Family need your help ...
My lease at the house is up, and having run the business out of my home for the past two years, I'm ready to get back to work in a proper studio space again. Unfortunately, Covid has disrupted my cash flow this past year, and has eaten up my savings. I have been trying to fund the move by begging, borrowing, scrimping and saving, but I'm still falling quite short, and need some assistance.
The total move is going to cost just over $4800, for first month's rent and security deposit, bills, cleaning, and the rental of a moving truck. It's a new location downtown that hosts artists and creatives in small, secured studio spaces, and is perfect for my needs with the book bindery. I have also found a tiny apartment nearby which is within walking distance of the commercial studio space, and also has all utilities included, so there is little to no additional overhead.
Thank you for your generosity in helping us meet this goal and keep the bindery open. It's the last of it's kind here in Calgary, and it would be a shame to have to shut down a business that has been around since 1926, if only because we are a few dollars short during a pandemic.
