Gilberto Sanchez's Funeral Expenses
"On Sunday March 8th, 2015 my brother Gilberto passed away while away from home. He was only 24 years old. He left San Diego to go to New Bern, NC in order to work for the painting contractor, which he had been with for a year now. I last saw him 2-17-2015 when he left to the airport. He told my 6-year-old brother and I that he loved us. He was only supposed to be gone a couple of months. Now he is gone forever.
The only positive thing I see in all of this is that now my mother, who passed away on 3-20-2014 from cancer, is no longer alone in heaven. Still, my family and I are left reeling from the unexpected loss of our beloved Gil. Though we really miss him, we are comforted by the joyful memories we spent with him: family fishing trips, disc golfing, watching football games, and playing Call of Duty together. My brother was my very best friend. And though he was always the quiet sibling, when he spoke he touched people's hearts. Gil is survived by his siblings: our sister Vanessa (20 yo), our brother Miguel (6 yo), and myself (31 yo); seven aunts and uncles who saw Gil as more of a son than a newphew; and many cousins who already miss his caring nature.

Devastatingly, the Sanchez/Nieto family has faced the loss of a loved one more than once this year. In order to offset costs for Gilberto's funeral services, we have set up this GoFundMe account. Any little bit helps, as this family spent all they had burying their mother less than a year ago. Above is a beautiful tribute to Gilberto, or Gil as he was most often called, written by his brother Aureliano.
