Oceanside Breakers Boys Dream Big

Our Oceanside Breakers B04 Black SYL Competitive Soccer team has made history having punched their ticket to represent the Southwest Division of the Super Y League (SYL) in the North American Finals in Bradenton, Florida! The boys are the youngest Oceanside Breakers team to ever qualify for a National competition

What makes this even more special is the unique commitment Oceanside Breakers makes to provide the opportunity for all our local players to play on top teams regardless of the challenges which would otherwise keep many from playing high-level competitive sports.

While the team has faced those challenges locally and regionally, we will need help to make this dream of playing in the SYL Finals the week of December 3, 2018 a reality.

As parents of competitive soccer players, our weekends (and week days) revolve around the teams’ schedules, we volunteer, we take teammates to games and practices when other parents cannot make it. We are our boys’ biggest fans and we are a family.

Why do we sacrifice so our sons’ can play soccer at this level? Because Coach Frank Zimmerman and Oceanside Breakers  are teaching our boys so much more than soccer.

- They understand it takes  hours, days, weeks, and years of practice, dedication and hard work to become champions

- Our coach teaches them to be gracious in defeat and humble in their success

- They know how to be good team mates: to support each other, to  work together, and to stay healthy

- They have learned how to deal with disappointment

- The  boys understand they must respect not only themselves, but other players, coaches, and officials

- They know how to be proud of small achievements and to work towards long-term goals

- Most importantly they have realized that they are ALL worthy of a college education

One of the most valuable elements of the Super Y League is the exposure to colleges as well as the pathways to get there. Now that the boys are Freshmen in high school, soccer helps our boys to stay focused on their education and to avoid the common pitfalls of adolescence.

How the money will be spent:

We have estimated $1500 for each player for flights, hotel, rental vans, and food.

Any additional funds will be used for the team to attend more college coach- attended tournaments.

These boys inspire us with their comradery, loyalty, and love for each other.

Please help them get to Florida on December 4, 2018!!!
