Over the past 10 years our team has been serving the West Village with love and passion. We've seen your kids grow, we've met your parents, friends and loved ones, and we have hopefully made a lot of hard mornings a little sweeter...
Last Tuesday, in light of the State and City orders requiring the closure of restaurants and bars to help contain the spread of the Coronavirus, we were forced to close our three cafes all at once, all of a sudden.
Seeing all of your familiar faces in line for coffee, paos de queijo and homemade foods until the last minute warmed our hearts, and the thought that this could be the last time we would serve you left us wholeheartedly broken. What has also left me broken is the lack of resources being offered to our industry; being ordered to stop our activity with no significant solutions for our hard working staff and for myself as a tenant and employer has been devastating.
While we hope to reopen within the next 60 days, we do not have any knowledge as to when exactly OCafe will make a come back - if we can still afford, by then, to make a come back at all.
As an effort to bring our staff financial support and to keep OCAFE afloat from these unprecedented times, we are seeking to reach the sum of $80,000. I understand it is a lot to ask when all of you, all of us are unsure of what the future holds. But anything, truly anything that you can contribute will be invaluable for our team and I to face the excruciating uncertainty that the next few months will bring.
