Hi Everyone,
As some of you know, I was adopted from Kunming China in 1994 to the USA. It's been an interesting experience being raised in the USA for over 30 years. While my Adoptive Parents ensured some of my paperwork etc was done, there was some major discrepancies, ie change of birth date and name changes, which has been a major headache for me up until the present.
I hate to ask for financial support on such a personal ask, but here I am. My Adoptive Parents changed my birth date for their own reasons, however due to that not being consistent across the board, I have been been tasked to submit a N-565 Form due to my Certificate of Citizenship not being accurate to the current ID's in my possession. (ie Driver's License, Social Security Card, Passport). In order to ensure everything is aligned correctly, I would need to submit paperwork to process this request in order to have the correct birth date on all ID's. Unfortunately the cost to process the N-565 Form is $505 which is way out of my financial means at the moment.
In conjunction I was laid off back in the summer of 2024, and have been trying to obtain proper employment. Due to the current times, and my partial estrangement from family, it has not been the easiest time for me. I understand everyone has a lot going on personally speaking, so if you are able, please share my Gofundme at least.
As someone who's been a big advocate in the adoptee space, I hope this sheds light to others who are in the same boat as myself, or who have yet to learn about their own circumstances regarding immigration, identity politics, etc around being adopted internationally. It’s beyond personal. My fate now lays in my hands, however I should not have to be worrying about my status, due to the negligence of others, my Adoptive Parents specifically.
I would like to credit Adoptee Rights Law Center PLLC for representing me and ensuring I get everything situated correctly. This has been a long time coming, since I initially thought I was out of the woods back in 2021 with an immigration scare that I had to address. However, 4 years later I'm back to the paperwork and hoping this is the final time I have to deal with legal stuff pertaining to my adoption/immigration experience.
Thank you, and much appreciation!
Ming
