<div><em>Greetings, Earthling! </em>I'm Celia C. Peters, an Oakland futurist, filmmaker, visual artist and curator. I'm creating a new voice in American sci-fi film. My team and I are raising funds to create a short sci-fi afrofuturist thriller that brings fresh energy to the table. <div>OBJECT PERMANENCE is a Black Mirror vibe with Black lead characters (and zero racial trauma). <strong>We’re not asking for permission</strong> --- we're cooking up a unique flavor of afrofuturism whose time has come.

<div>Now the clock is ticking to raise production funds for OP and we need your help! <strong>This film will premiere at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on September 12, 2026, in connection with the </strong><a href="https://www.sfomuseum.org/exhibitions/women-afrofuturism" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>Women of Afrofuturism exhibit</strong></a><strong> in Terminal 1, which </strong><a href="https://www.sfomuseum.org/exhibitions/women-afrofuturism/gallery#3" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>features my art</strong></a><strong>.</strong>

<div>This round of funds will go to <strong>crucial</strong> production costs: paying our very talented cast and funding our art department (production designer, set decorator, props, using original art from independent artists in the set and an art installer).

<div><strong>NEXT STOPS FOR THE PROJECT: </strong> Screening at <a href="https://www.nexus-sfbay.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NEXUS</a>, presented by the Museum of the African Diaspora-SF in October 2026. And then<strong> </strong>the film will head to film festivals.<strong> The big goal is to develop a feature film or episodic series version of Object Permanence. In an era when the U.S. government is <strong><em>erasing</em> Black history</strong>, telling stories about Black and POC people in the future is a most urgent and <strong>very necessary </strong>revolutionary act.

<div>Science fiction has been *my jam* ever since I was a girl and this is the sci-fi I’ve been wanting to see: smart, stylish and centering characters who look like me. With OP, I was inspired by the <a href="https://www.mos.org/article/visitors-vast-beyond" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">3 interstellar objects</a> that’ve passed by Earth lately — and of course, the <a href="https://archive.is/9OeSp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">U.S. government’s recent acknowledgement of unexpl</a>ained phenomena on Earth! <em>My story plays with the latest science exploring what (who?) is out there in our universe. </em>
