Oaxaca earthquake relief

Hi friends, at this point you've probably heard about the massive earthquake that just hit Mexico- the largest there in 100 years:

I've started this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to help devastated communities in Oaxaca. Specifically, the money from this campaign will go to my dear longtime friend, indigenous artist and activist Carlos Orozco Ocaña in Oaxaca. He will use it to buy food/supplies/water for people affected by the disaster, and will travel from Oaxaca City to the Isthmus region to give aid to the communities there.
Carlos is the founder and organizer of the indigenous artists' collective Puech Ikots (www.puechikots.com). Many of you have met and befriended him on his trips to Chicago to promote the art and culture of Oaxaca. Carlos has lectured and taught workshops on Oaxacan art at University of Illinois-Chicago, Loyola University, and Loyola University Museum of Art (http://gozamos.com/2016/07/alebrije-artist-carlos-orozco-brings-a-piece-of-oaxaca-to-chicago/)
I am the Chicago coordinator for Puech Ikots and a board member of Cuentos Foundation (www.cuentosfoundation.org), an arts 501c3 that fiscally sponsors Puech Ikots in the USA, and have known Carlos since 2008.
Carlos's family is originally from the Isthmus region in Oaxaca, which was particularly hard hit. He is of Huave/Ikoots descent (Huave is the more commonly used name for this indigenous people, but they call themselves the Ikoots). As many of you know, in addition to being an artist, he is a committed indigenous rights activist and experienced organizer. He and his family have many contacts with community organizations in the Isthmus region. He is planning to travel to the Isthmus from Oaxaca City to bring supplies to devastated communities there.
All the money from this campaign (minus GoFundMe fees) will be withdrawn by me personally, and wired down via Western Union by me personally to Carlos, in order to buy food, water, and medicine to take from Oaxaca City to the Huave/Ikoots region of the Isthmus (on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca). He will work with local organizations on the ground to distribute these items to those in need. Please see campaign updates for exact details on where he is taking aid.
