The Oasis Empowerment Center has been providing essential services to women on #Guam since 2004. So many we work with have been victims of significant abuse and sexual assault. The Oasis is a place of healing and restoration. Many lives have received hope, help and wholeness in ways no medicine or drug could do anything about. So many homeless women now have a place they belong, and purpose to live for.
We have been using rented facilities and moved from one place to another over these past 10 years. We have put a lot of improvements to make our current building best suited to our needs. We are now easily accessible and centrally located to assist the most people in our target population. This capital campaign is to help raise the down payment to buy our building to be our permanent home.
Guam is a unique mix of statistics. We are a territory controlled by the USA located about 14 hours flying time west of Los Angeles. In many ways this land is a forgotten people with significant challenges. 3 times as many women suffer rape and sexual assault as any place in the US. A large majority of our Chamorro population live in poverty. Currently we provide a wide array of supportive services to fullfil our mission to INSPIRE SUCCESS FILLED LIVING. We strive to help people reach their destiny, overcome poverty and become fruitful producers and world changers.
Please invest in the lives of these who are among the most hidden from view. We are committed to make a difference and impact more lives in the Pacific Islands. This year for example, we are helping aunch several new micro-enterprises to help women earn a living wage and escape the poverty trap. This Summer we will be hosting again the Manha Project Deaf Camp to help strenthen the "voice" of the many deaf and hard of hearing individuals with disabilites who live here. Your gifts help make a difference in changing lives. These are truly investments with eternal rewards!
