Oaklyn's Love

Donation protected
Our beautiful daughter, Oaklyn Grace Bengsch, was born on August 31st, 2018 at 19 weeks.  Oaklyn was diagnosed at 18 weeks with a terminal condition called Anencephaly.  During our difficult journey, we met many wonderful people that were incredible supports for us.  Shortly after we received Oaklyn's initial diagnosis, we were sent to the specialists at Children's Hospital of Milwaukee for confirmation.

It was here that we were given a very special gift that we will treasure forever.  We were given a Build-A-Bear with a recording device that the specialists recorded Oaklyn's heartbeat on.  This bear has been one of the things that has given Oaklyn's mom and dad strength and hope through this journey.  After Oaklyn was born, the bear was with Oaklyn at all times.  Now, the bear is with Mom and Dad and gets frequent hugs and cuddles.

In talking with the specialists at Children's Hospital, we learned that the bear we received was a donation from another family who was in a similar situation and that there are only five bears left from the donation.  It is our hope that we can raise money to purchase "Oaklyn's Love" bears and recording devices for families in similar situations so that they can feel comfort. We are working with Children's Hospital and Build-A-Bear to design a bear.  All of the money raised will go directly to the purchase of these bears and recording devices.  All of the bears will be donated to Children's Hospital of Milwaukee so they can support as many families as possible locally.

Thank you for your love and support in sharing Oaklyn's Love.
