My name is Elizabeth Leftwich, and I’m a contestant in the 2015 Jabberwock pageant sponsored by the Winston-Salem Alumnae Chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Jabberwock Scholarship pageant is an activity-oriented competition that rewards scholastic achievement, fundraising efforts and talent. I am excited and honored to be a part of this one-in-a-lifetime event and am soliciting your support to help me raise scholarship funds and earn the crown of Miss Jabberwock 2015.
I am the daughter of Cecil and Mia Lynn Eskridge Leftwich and the granddaughter of Caroline Cunningham Leftwich, the late Command Sergeant Major Charles Edward Leftwich, Sr. and the late Pauline G. Eskridge. I am a senior at Ronald Wilson Reagan High School where I am a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Nu Delta Alpha National Dance Honor Society, Crosby Scholars, and FCCLA.
I plan to matriculate to Nursing School and become a Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) Nurse. Volunteering every summer for the past three years at Forsyth Medical Center has provided me with an insider’s look into my chosen profession. I have been accepted into Hampton, Alabama, South Carolina, and Spelman.
Dancing is my passion, and I have danced since I was three years old. I’m currently a member of the Dance Elite Competitive Dance Team, competing a duet with my little sister this season. I have worked as a teacher’s assistant at my dance studio for the past four years including working as an Assistant Coach for the Dance Express Recreational team. I also volunteered at the Best Choice Center to teach a free ballet class and share my love of dance with eight lovely little ballerinas every Friday afternoon. Their performance made my heart melt.
I am an active member of United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church where I participate as with the Youth Usher Board, Sunday Church School, Youth Bible Study and Youth Mission trips.
