Let's Help Amanda G. Be Cancer Free

Hello Everyone,
As some of you may know, Amanda Groeller (Lake County Jail Receptionist) was recently diagnosed with cancer again for the second time. When Amanda was seventeen, she was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma which caused her to go through extensive chemotherapy and to have her left leg amputated. She has been cancer free for 7 years until she went in for a routine follow up and told the doctor that she was having trouble breathing. This prompted the doctors to do an x-ray on her lungs, where they discovered a concerning spot. Testing proved that the spot was a tumor located in her lung.
The doctors decided it would be best to perform surgery on her March 5th, 2015 so they could do a biopsy to make sure it was not cancerous. After five hours of surgery, the doctors found the mass in the upper and lower lobe in her lung. The mass had attached itself to her blood vessels, but the doctors did the best they could to scrape off what was there. They have removed the mass and inserted a port that sits on her chest and attaches to her heart so when she starts chemotherapy, it will pump through her body faster. It is still unknown exactly what type of cancer she has, but the doctors are under the impression that it is Ewing Sarcoma again.
Amanda has been a breath of fresh air to the Lake County Jail. She is never without a smile or a kind word. To see her and her family going through this horrific ordeal again is heartbreaking. Amanda and her husband, Antonio, are raising two sons, Nathan and Luca, and could greatly benefit from our support.
