With the speed of lightening she took off, sun glistening off her sweet caramel skin, bright hopeful eyes focused on the prize, arms and legs in rhythmic motion, her spikes sink deep into the track leaving her mark with every stride, with the heart, strength, and determination of a champion 26 year old, Keliesha Carter has done everything in her life. She has earned many accolades, but more important than any gold medal around her neck is the heart of gold she carries in her chest and the pieces of it that she leaves with everyone she meets.

Anyone who has met her is drawn to her magnetic and energetic personality. Keliesha posses a gentle spirit motivated by serving others. Her entire life has been dedicated to servitude in the roles of daughter, sister, aunt, coach, wife and teacher. She has always given herself, time, energy, and love effortlessly without complaint. These are some of the many reasons we love her so dearly. To know her is to adore her.

On Tuesday March 3, 2015, while Keliesha was teaching her 6th grade math class, she was suddenly struck by a massive stroke due to a blood clot in her brain. One of the complications from the stroke has been significant swelling in the right hemisphere of her brain. Surgeons went in to remove the parietal bone to allow room for the swelling to expand. She is under close observation in ICU, as she is now in critical condition. Surrounded by the love and support of her family and friends, Keliesha continues to show us what it means to be a true champion. With a wiggle of her finger or a gentle head nod she reassures us that this is a race she is determined to win.

Her family and friends are faithful in believing Keliesha will make a full recovery and will be by her side every step of the way. She still has quite the journey ahead of her including a number of new expenses such as medical bills, treatments, physical therapy, etc. The family has established this account for those of you who would like to to support our champion on her road to recovery. Our sincerest thank you for your continued prayers, thoughts, encouragement, and financial support in helping us to restore an amazing woman and humanitarian.
