I grew up with Jesse and his big brother Jeremy since I was the age of 10 or so!We grew up in your typical blue collar neighborhood, subarb of Denver Co. While myself and the rest of my friends were blessed with good health and not much else to worry about, other than who was taking the hotter girl to the dance that week. Jesse and Jeremy were dealing with one of the rarest diseases in the world, slowly attacking the immune system.By the time we reached High school the disease was in full force, the first time I knew it was serious was after a fall on a camping trip, Jeremy the oldest, broke his ankle around the fire pit, not thinking much of it we dropped him off in town and expected a speedy recovery. Well that recovery never fully took place. It seemed after that day both of the Barton boys health declined,years went by, and Jeremy never did recover. He went on to father two children, but the pain continued. He decided to end the pain a few years later, when he broke the hearts of many by taking his own life! Jesse tredged on, trying to be strong, doing the best he could also would father a child. Rena the boys mother, and mother to us all stood strong, as everyones heart was weeping. Jesse suffered another blow as his best friend and "cousin" Josh also lost his life after returning from serving his country in Iraq, and being witness to Jeremy's death! Recently due to the illness, Jesse has had to have his leg amputated, it will not heal enough to have a prostetic. He is not in a very good place at this time and is struggling to see the good in life as you could imagine! He told me a year or so ago it was on his bucket list for him and his son to come visit me, his life long friend, and brother from another mother, so we could take the boy fishing and to see Mickey Mouse here in Orlando!
