Thomas's Vet Fund

Donation protected
Thomas had an accident in December 2014. His owner Emma took him to the vet on numerous occasions with a suspected broken jaw and was unable to feed due to the fact his jaw was only able to open a small amount. Not enough to feed normally. Trips to a different vet showed a suspected broken jaw on the x-rays that were taken. We offered to help Emma by bringing him home to ours and syringe feeding him every three hours to help build him up. An excellent vet in Leigh was recommended to us so poor little Thomas was taken there to start a process of elimination to determine what exactly is wrong and preventing his jaw from opening. Initial x-rays suggested a broken jaw but after undergoing sugery it was established that Thomas did not in fact have a break or an earlier fracture. Three different vets had examined the x-rays and said the same thing, that it was showing as a break. After various treatments of steriods and antibiotics there was no improvement in his condition. The vet then suggested taking biopsys from the top of his head and either side of his jaw. The results came back and the left side of the jaw and top of the head were clear, regrettably there is tissue and muscle damage to the right side of the jaw. A further operation has been undertaken and a new biopsy has been sent to be cultivated so that the correct antibiotics can be found for further treatment. He now has a nasal tube in as he is severely underweight for his age (7months). The vet has informed us that he will be on these antibiotics for weeks/months - unable to determine the exact length of time at the moment. He has been through so much in his short life and we would all like to help as much as we can. He is such a loving, strong and very brave little cat and deserves a chance to live. We were looking to raise up to £2000 but now need to raise £5000 and any donations big or small would be gratefully received and very welcome. Thomas has now been referred to the best vet in the country to see if there is any way that they can help him. We know that the treatment does not come cheap hence the reason we have now increased the fund requirements. Please help us to give Thomas a fighting chance to live a normal life.
