Baby Wyatt's War Chest

Donation protected

This GoFundMe is to help pay the medical bills for our baby, Wyatt Edward Beeson, who was born on February 6, 2015 with a very rare and life threatening heart condition. A lot of you have asked if we need anything and how you can help, so we thought this would be a good way for folks to do that.

The $7,000 goal for this campaign will cover our out-of-pocket maximum for this year alone. It doesn't include travel expenses, meals, parking in SF, etc. We have been at UCSF over one month, and will probably be here a few more weeks, but we know God is good and our needs will be met, as always. Thank you to all who have prayed, visited and sent us gifts already, and thank you to those who are helping us in this way! Our friends and family have shown us love through this hard time that we've never experienced before.

Here is Wyatt's whole story:

On November 5th, 2014, we went to the doctor for the exciting 20-week ultrasound to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. The exciting news that "it's a boy!" was quickly overshadowed by the news that his heart didn't look quite right. Over the next few weeks we learned that Wyatt had an extremely rare heart condition only documented 20 other times called "Absent Pulmonary Valve." Of those 20, 14 had heart transplants, and none lived past their mid 20's. We were told he would have very enlarged pulmonary arteries, malformed lungs and bronchial tubes, a very weak enlarged heart, and a high likelihood of brain damage. We made the decision at that point to fight for him and trust the power of God to heal him.

Wyatt ended up being born 6 weeks premature on February 6, 2015 after developing fluid around the heart called hydrops, a sign that his heart was having trouble. Much to the surprise of the cardiologists and all involved, his lungs and bronchial tubes were perfectly formed (though immature), his pulmonary arteries were almost normal, and the heart muscle was very strong. Though the pulmonary valve is missing, his heart may be healthy enough to go years without putting one in! We fully believe this is the power of our Lord Jesus who heard all your prayers over the past few months.

6 days after he was born, Wyatt had heart surgery to close an artery that was hampering lung function. The doctors still need to close a small opening between the two atriums called the "foramen ovale" before he can go home, and he will need a pulmonary valve some years later.

The past four weeks have been filled with heart-wrenching hours of staring at monitors, praying when his oxygen level drops or his heart rate shoots up, rejoicing when he opens his eyes and smiles at us, and looking forward to taking him home. It'll happen soon!
