Chris Barton's Heart Transplant

This is Chris. . .also known as Jenny's husband, and Makenzie's daddy. Chris needs a new heart and as you can imagine, new hearts cost A LOT. Chris and Jenny have medical insurance, but this will not cover all of the cost of the transplant, the very expensive medications or the expenses they will incur during his lengthy hospital stay. Chris is a man that would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone out, this fund is our little way of giving back to a man (and his family) that is dearly loved!
Here's Chris' story:
About four years ago, Chris had open heart surgery where his valve was replaced with a mechanical valve. After the surgery, he were informed that because his aortic valve had leaked for so long, his heart had lost most of its elasticity resulting in congestive heart failure. This condition reduces the hearts production of blood flow and oxygen which in turn restricts your activity level. Despite this, Chris has been living a productive life for the last four years.
As of September 2014, he noticed a decline in his stamina. It was very evident that his heart wasn't keeping up. Continued trips to the cardiologist, changes in medications and adjustments to his pacemaker, all with now positive results. He was informed that it was time for the next step in this journey. He was referred downtown to be evaluated to see if he was eligible for the heart transplant list. After weeks of testing, his case was brought before the board of directors and he received confirmation on February 17, 2015 that he was approved. He is now actively on the transplant list! A lot of variables go into this process, most importantly it must be a perfect match. With that being said, he and his family are confident that God has His hands all over this.
Chris, Jenny and Makenzie are thankful to God for every day he has been given. They want to thank all of their family and friends who have been by their side every step of the way. They are so blessed.
