Lungs for Donnie

Donnie was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in 2016. Since then it has changed their lives drastically. He is now required to be on a continuous oxygen flow 24 hours every day and is to a degree a shut in at home. This has added to the challenge being as active as he had always been. This disease as quoted from a staff member from the Mayo Clinic is a disease with a “Death Sentence”, but that’s man’s report. Donnie has worked since a young age and served our country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. His work passion over the years consisted of numerous years in the airline business, resort owner relations, customer service and maintenance management. His life literally changed overnight and has taken a challenging toll on his
family. Relying on the prayers, kindness & generosity of family and friends this has been very humbling for them both.

This disease is unpredictable in progression and
there’s no cure for except for a complete healing from the Lord or a transplant. Over time as this disease progresses and leads to heart failure.

Donnie is not a former smoker of cigarettes and upon physical exertion his oxygen levels drop to a dangerous
level which affects his vital organs. They travel to Mayo Clinic in hopes of being approved for a lung transplant.

My sister Lynn works for a Bay County School & has
been fortunate enough to have enough leave at this point to be there for Donnie. However, I don’t believe my sister has that much accrued leave, so that could also be another loss of income while still having their home and other required living necessities to maintain.

They will continue to travel to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida for testing & monitoring until approved for the transplant. Once that happens, they will have to relocate to Jacksonville for a minimum of 3 months. The cost of relocation can be substantial over a 3 month period.

Donnie is my brother-in- law & Lynn is my sister.
They’ve been married for 25 years, have 3 sons, daughter-in- law & 1 grandson. They are involved in a unique biker ministry & love to serve the community and people and have been doing so for 15 years.

I have put this together on behalf of them & our family. We want to do everything in our power to help them through this very difficult time. They have told me numerous times how grateful they are for the outpouring of love, prayers & donations they’ve already
received.

Understandably some people do not like to go on sites like GoFundMe for different reasons. But GoFundMe has been around helping others for over 6 years. If
you would prefer not to go through this site but would like to help, you can send it directly to them.

The address is:

On behalf of my family, Donnie and Lynn, we can’t thank you enough for your continued prayers & support. They could not be making it without you!
