Support for Michele McGarraugh

Michele has fallen on some very hard times. Her husband was diagnosed with, and after 14 years, passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease, leaving her in deep debt. The savings she and her husband had accumulated were gone. She had to sell their home to pay the medical expenses, which left her very little with which to start over.

Recently, Michele has not been able to work due to being listed as “non-essential” according to COVID-19 restrictions. Her younger sister recently passed away from COVID-19.

She is working on developing new skills that will allow her to earn income without having to be out in public, but those efforts will take some months to come to fruition. Meanwhile, what little resources she has are rapidly dwindling and she has no family members to help her during this time. Her landlord agreed to not impose the rent increase that was due on August 1; however, there is still the specter of eviction, as the protections against such during the pandemic are not guaranteed to remain in force.

Michele is a good person who has always been responsible and hard working. Her eyes twinkle when she laughs. As her best friend of over 40 years, it has been hard for me to see what has happened to her. She is trying hard to stay positive but she needs help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
