Mitzvah Project Ethiopian Israelis

Hello, my name is Melissa. My cousins Ryan, Arielle and I are having a joint B'nai Mitzvah in June 2015 in Israel. After my service at Robinson's Arch in Jerusalem, we are having a joint party at Genesisland in the Judean Desert.

For my mitzvah project, I am raising money to support the Ethiopian National Project (ENP) in Israel. Supporting this organization combines my family's African roots and our commitment to Israel.

The Ethiopian National Project's goal is "to advance the integration of Ethiopian-Israelis into Israeli society". They do this by providing both social and educational opportunities for children of the Ethiopian-Israeli community.

With every $1,250, we can support one Ethiopian Jewish student for a year through ENP's Scholastic Assistance Program, which provides educational support, and the Youth Outreach Centers, which offer a range of extra-curricular activities, ono-on-one emotional support as well as leadership opportunities.

We have arranged to meet some of the children supported by the ENP when we are touring Israel in June. We hope to meet the students that we will support with the money that we, together, will raise.

My family and I have committed to raise $250 through participating in a fun run and organizing a bake sale. I will also donate money from my bat mitzvah gifts.

I would really appreciate it if you joined me in donating to help support the Ethiopian National Project. No amount is too small!
