My name is Nyeshia Stevenson (31) and I was diagnosed with Lupus (SLE) in 2014. In January 2018, I was admitted into the hospital after an emergency room visit. I had serious hypertension issues. My blood pressure was as high as 198/132. Getting ready to leave for my final days before discharge, I'm finally told the "actual" reason why I had been there for a week.
At this point, my Lupus had attacked my kidneys and I was in End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). I had surgery to have my PD catheter inserted March 2018 and shortly began my at home dialysis treatments April 2018. If you are unaware of what PD Dialysis is, I have to hook up to a machine every night for 9 hours. The machine works extra hard to clean my blood and "basically" work as a kidney until I am able to receive a new one.
After starting dialysis, there was a lot I had to learn about insurance, medications, caregivers, etc.
Fast forward to now, I was officially placed on the United Nations of Organ Sharing Kidney Transplant list on May 10, 2019! It has been a long, trying year, but I am glad to say I made it through the storm.
Why do I need your help?
Post Transplant, I will not be able to work and my post medication will be very expensive. As if I don't have a lot to worry about already..... SO I need your help until I am able to get back to work and continue to provide for myself again.
I want to get a jump start on this so I won't have to rush when I receive THE phone call.
I would sincerely appreciate your support and your prayers are never dismissed. Thank you to each and every one of you! I could not thank you enough for your support!
