The academic field of medicine which interests me the most is neuroscience and neurology. Out of all of the unexplained phenomena in the world, the one that inspires me the most is the brain. The puzzles that are the most challenging and personal to understand, if completed, could bring one of the most important scientific revolutions to our world.
My passion for understanding the brain started when I was very little. My older sister was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth and is unable to talk, walk, or do any of the basic human needs without assistance. From a young age, I wanted to help find a cure in order to help those who had this condition. Knowing that somewhere in the brain, something might be possible for a human to talk and walk is just extraordinary. That hope is what wakes me up every morning and makes me strive to do my best. I want to leave this world knowing that I have made a difference to help my cause. My goal is to make a mark in the world and change something that couldn't be done without my existence.
I always love performing challenges and solving problems, and neuroscience allows me to do both. There is so much we don't know about the study of the brain, that there seems to be some sort of problem any part you look at. Understanding the process of how neurological illnesses affect the brain and nervous systems are what I want my career in medicine to be. There is never a day where I didn't want to know more about the world, how it works, and what I can do to improve it.
