NYC Marathon Stroke Awareness

Hello my name is Kelly Smith and I am going to be running the New York City Marathon in my Aunt Debbie's name. My Aunt is one of the most interesting people that I have come to know. Heck, I even had her come in for my fifth grade "Person I Aspire to Be Day". She speaks her mind. She always knows how to have a fun and interesting time. And no matter the circumstances, she knows how to keep a person smiling.
Five years ago my Aunt Debbie had a stroke, she survived. She is one of 25% of stroke victims that have survived and made progress from her stroke. She has and continues to make strides in her speech. She has made stride in physical therapy as well. She has made so much progress that she is now able to drive. She is on the "Come Back Trail" from her stroke!
Unfortunately, not every person who has a stroke survives, or even make progress. That is why I feel it is necessary to make sure that people understand the signs and symptoms of a stroke.
I would appreciate any donation made to this page to help me raise money for stroke awareness!
