Everyone at sometime in their lives has needed help. Whether it be emotional, physical or financial. I’m confident in that.
Right now my sister and brother in law could use some financially as well as emotionally.
On Wednesday August 15th at approximately 6pm, one of their dogs Nya was hit by a car and is facing possible amputation of both front legs. What kind of quality of life can she have? Because of the difficulty a dog would have with no front legs and the tremendous amount of constant care required, it is inevitable that euthanasia is at least considered. Faced with having to make a decision of euthanizing Nya, these two animal lovers do not consider this to be an option.
At this time she is receiving emergency care at The University of Pennsylvania- Ryan Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. without even understanding exactly where this may lead. With one exception, they know they can give the time, love and whatever financial resources they have available to this precious family member for the remaining days of her life.
Although the Dr.’s are holding out hope that they can save her legs, nothing is certain except that it will be a very long road to recovery. There are skin grafts, surgeries, physical therapy and numerous other procedures to contend with. The cost at Ryan Hospital is approximately $1,000.00 per day and right now doctors estimate a 2-3 week stay. Following that emergency treatment she will then be transferred to the family vet.
This will surely involve a huge commitment of time and finances however, as most can understand, an animal is equally important as a human family member. Therefore we are asking for help.
