Il Prof.Giuseppe De Donno è Direttore di Pneumologia e Terapia intensiva respiratoria del Carlo Poma di Mantova che
in prima linea ha applicato la terapia con il plasma iperimmune sui pazienti affetti da gravi forme di Covid 19.
Una volta guariti, donare il proprio plasma per i malati medio-gravi di covid-19. Si tratta del punto di partenza di una
terapia che fa uso della trasfusione della parte liquida del sangue di chi ha sconfitto la malattia e ha sviluppato degli anticorpi.
Il protocollo è stato predisposto dal servizio di immunoematologia e medicina trasfusionale dell’ospedale San Matteo di Pavia,
diretto da Cesare Perotti, in collaborazione con le strutture di Mantova e Lodi, e dall’Azienda ospedaliera universitaria di Padova.
“In poche ore sui pazienti si cominciano a vedere già i primi risultati clinici” spiega Perotti.
Pamela Vincenzi è la prima donna incinta ad essere guarita dal virus attraverso questa cura all'ospedale Carlo Poma di Mantova.
“I limiti sono legati al numero basso dei donatori idonei – precisa Massimo Franchini, ematologo dell’ospedale di Mantova –
ora che stiamo però superando la fase acuta dell'epidemia confidiamo che aumentino”. La riuscita è legata anche alla tempestività
dell’azione ad uno stadio preciso della malattia, quando si hanno già delle manifestazioni gravi. “Nel corso della sperimentazione a
Mantova non si sono ancora visti effetti collaterali", precisa Giuseppe De Donno, direttore di pneumologia dell’Ospedale della città.
