Liberty goes to Washington D.C.

Since 2006, Liberty Academy has been on the front line of providing high quality education programs for the youngest children in the Liberty City area of Miami. If judgements about Liberty City are based solely on news accounts, one could easily form a negative opinion of the community. The truth of the matter is that Liberty City is full of hard working families that want the best for their children. Even though our parents put a premium on early childhood education, some educational activities and opportunities are cost prohibitive. The reason Liberty Academy created this GoFundMe account is to help our hardworking families bring the costs of a fieldtrip to Washington, DC within range.

It is difficult to overstate the impact our 2016 fieldtrip to DC had on our students and parents. The exposure to museums, monuments, and the halls of Congress gave the group a perspective that cannot be captured by videos and books. Most of all, it gave them a sense of what lies beyond Liberty City, and that greatness lies within them.

Liberty Academy strongly believes that exposure to science, history, and the arts can help create a solid academic foundation, which in turn, will increase the probability of excellence throughout that student’s academic career.  We plan on taking a group of 20 kindergarten students and their parents to DC between April 20 and April 23, 2018. The trip will include a tour of Congress, Smithsonian Museums, Washington Monument, Lincoln & MLK Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, Washington National Zoo, and Madam Tussauds’ Wax Museum.
