Make a difference for Richard

My dear friend Patty Limon is a breast cancer survivor going on 8 yrs this September, but that battle has not been comparable to the one she faced 3 years ago and still fighting. She discovered her eldest son Richard has a tumor called Ependymoma in between the brainstem and cerebellum. With his first surgery in 2012, the doctors were not able to remove the tumor completely. Since then he has had 5 additional surgeries and will be facing his toughest one on March 10th since the tumor has grown back. He had a ventriculo-peritoneal (VP) shunt inserted in his brain to drain the excess fluid buildup which he will need for the rest of his life. On top of all of this, he’s had 2 eye surgeries to help with the double vision as a result of this tumor. The excruciating headaches and nausea has been a daily battle for this young man.

Prior to his diagnoses, Richard was working part time and in a fire cadet program to become a firefighter. He is a strong and smart 23 year old young man that has had his life ripped apart. The stress, pain and heart break that Patty has had to endure is more than any mother should ever have to.

I’ve known Patty for many years. She is very strong, compassionate and reserved. For the past 3 years whenever I asked how I may help, her only response was “talking to you helps my friend”. But today I am reaching out to my friends and family to help me help her. You can just imagine the mounting medical bills for the numerous surgeries and ER visits. Insurance will only cover so much so any bit that anyone can help will be greatly appreciated by me and the Limon family.

My goal is to raise $5,000 to go towards the care of Richard. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
