Help Heal Henry

This is a note written by Mary, the mother of Henry who is a missionary in Oaxaca. Henry was burned on Monday, March 2nd and is currently on his way to the Shriner's Hospital in Galveston, TX.

I know everyone is wondering how Henry was burned so badly... Now is as good a time as any to fill you all in as we are just waiting for his next surgery tonight. It was a compete accident. I was going to give all the kids baths, which is a much different process here than in the United States. I have to fill a baby bath tub about 1/3 full with hot water from the hot water heater and then carry it inside to our bathroom and fill the remainder with cold water from the shower spout (since our bathroom only has cold water running to it).

I'm usually very careful to keep the kids out until I get the water ready, and yesterday was no exception. I ran the water in the first tub as usual and put Sam and Henry in it. Then I got the second tub filled with hot water and brought it in the bathroom for Hattie and Jack (while making sure those 2 stayed out of the bathroom while I was preparing their water) and I put their tub on the floor under the shower spout. Then, as I stood up to turn the cold shower water on, Henry stood straight up and jumped from his tub to the one with the boiling hot water. The tubs were about a foot apart, and he was contentedly playing in his tub. He somehow managed to get his arm over into the other tub before I could grab him. His hand and forearm were immediately blistering and I knew it was bad.

We quickly jumped in the Jeep and drove the 45 minutes down the mountainside to the closest urgent care facility. In case you missed the other updates, the doctors sedated him last night and did a surgery to scrape off the dead skin, and will be doing the same procedure tonight, at which point we should know if he's going to need skin grafts or not.

We appreciate all your kind words and prayers. I know I surely could not get through situations like these of it weren't for my friends and family all over lifting me up in prayer. I'm not sure how this is all going to work out at this point, but Im so very grateful that I can rest in the fact that God has been in control of this whole situation and He loves my Henry even more than I do.
