Todd Giles has been battling Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma for nine years. The first round of treatments included radiation to head and neck area, Cisplatin Chemotherapy and countless drugs to offset nausea and pain. 90 pounds lost and the battle continues as the cancer has metastasized into the blood stream and traveled to his spine, lungs and ribs. There are lesions around the abdomen and lymph nodes effected between the lungs. The continued battle has been immunotherapy which has slowed the cancer but not eliminated it. Continued doses of radiation to disease areas has given some relief. After moving back to Kentucky his fight is based at the James Graham Cancer Center in Louisville. Every two weeks he received a infusion and blood work. The immunotherapy has triggered a rheumatoid arthritis which is crippling his mobility. Recent PET scan has revealed the news he dreaded the most. Cancer to the brain.
Wendy and Todd's battle with cancer started several years before with his wife, Wendy, battling cancer of the thyroid and having surgery and treatments. Wendy has suffered with fibromyalgia and working as a caregiver for Todd, has not been able to work to pay mounting bills. Todd lost his job when he was not physically able to return to work after 90 days.
Medical bills, deductibles and medicines have grown to create hardships expenses that they are unable to pay.
This Fund has been created to help them thru this hardship and make life less stressful so he can focus on his fight. They are asking for prayers and donations to help them thru these difficult times.
Both Wendy and Todd have been very supportive and helpful with others at the cancer center and their community. They spend everyday trying to assure people that you never take life for granted and everyday is a blessing! He is well know for dressing up in homemade costumes to help in getting a laugh out of patients and staff during his treatments. Through these hard times he needs as much support people can offer.
