Support Amanda's Journey to Stability and Independence

Hey y’all! The goal of this fundraiser is to raise funds for Amanda as she faces the rapidly impending loss of her current housing. Thankfully, she’s secured temporary housing with friends but currently has no way to pay for long term, independent housing and the associated costs of moving. Due to her disabilities, Amanda is unable to afford her current housing/living costs and is unable to work with multiple chronic illnesses that impact her mobility, memory and mental health.

Amanda has faced many losses, most notably the passing of her beloved parents; her Mother, Diana in June 2011 and Father, Joe in June 2015. She then inherited her childhood home and paid the mortgage and maintenance costs as long as she could. With no other immediate family, Amanda made the decision to leave Wyoming due to rising maintenance costs (both monetarily and physically) of the home and increasing personal safety concerns. In June 2023, Amanda moved to Loveland, CO. She was initially able to live off of the proceeds from the sale of her beloved childhood home but after a little over a year, the proceeds of that sale were depleted. Throughout 2024-2025, she was able to afford rent through selling off the remainder of her small inheritance. However, that was depleted completely in July 2025, and she has resorted to living off of a couple credit cards that are now maxed out.

During this transitional period, she will be staying with some wonderful friends for a minimum of 6 months or until she is approved for SSI and can secure long term affordable housing. In addition to losing her permanent housing, Amanda will no longer be able to provide a home for her three cats: Presley, Winchester, and Evie will have to surrender them, as she has not been able to find fosters or direct adopters for them. These three cats have been her family and emotional support for the last 14 years and she is absolutely heartbroken to live without them. If there were any other options, those three would be going with her to the temporary housing she’s secured.

You can help Amanda stay housed and to raise funds that will assist with this transition, including the cost of moving to temporary housing in Denver.

With a mandatory move out date of Nov. 2, 2025, Amanda is faced with the following costs:
• U-Haul
• Movers
• Storage Unit
• Funds for temporary utilities and rent for a
minimum of 6 months
• Donation to shelter that accepts the cats

** Any leftover funds will go towards paying off credit card balances and other urgent debts.

Here are a few words from her wonderful friends about the kind of person Amanda is, the struggles that we've seen her endure, and the reasons she needs your help:

"Amanda is a kind soul who is always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, even while she faces her own struggles. She continuously deals with a failed system which provides little support to the disabled community. She sacrificed her family home, treasured belongings, and beloved pets to financially survive up to this point. She is an amazingly strong person who has helped many people and deserves the kindness and assistance that she has shown others."
- C. Gonzales, MA

"Amanda is a dear friend of mine that needs help raising funds to secure housing. She is disabled and unable to work. By the cruelty of the US government, she does not qualify for disability. Amanda is a loving and kind and caring person that deserves a place of her own. If you are able to donate, please do! If not, please at least share this so it can reach more people. Any little bit helps!" - J. Walter, OH

“I’ve known Amanda for 5 years. She is a very loyal and dedicated friend. In these 5 years, she has struggled with a lot of challenges. Having to move out of her childhood home and dealing with the significant health challenges she has, has been so hard for her. Add to that the upcoming second move and being unable to take her cats with her, has only compounded that pain and struggle. We aren’t in the same state and so knowing how much she has struggled and not being able to help is difficult for me. I hate to see my friend struggle and be unable to help, especially considering we have a lot of the same health issues and I know I could be in that scenario just as easily. If you able to help, please do so!!!”
