Half Marathon: Rochelle Rose Fund

Donation protected
Many years ago, my big sister Rochelle was born with transposition.   Resulting from this condition her Aorta and Pulmonic Artery were reversed, making it impossible to adequately pump oxygenated blood throughout her body.  Despite multiple interventions and surgeries, there was not sufficient research available at the time,  and my sister passed away before her first birthday.  Following her death, her heart was donated to Children's Hospital to be studied, and a fund was started in her name. This fund over the years has continued to grow, raising hundreds of thousands.  This growth has enabled a  great deal of studies and research to be conducted, allowing this surgery to currently have a 98% success rate.

Growing up around hospitals from an early age due to her fund, is what initially inspired me to become a nurse. It has aways  been my goal to contribute to my sister's fund, but I had not been sure how until the opportunity presented itself.  On May 24th my Dad and I will be running the Boston Half Marathon:  Boston's Run to Remember.  Please consider making a donation on our behalf.  All of the proceeds will be going directly to the Rochelle Elizabeth Rose Cardiac Intensive Care Clinical Research Fund at Boston Children's Hospital. The growth of this fund has allowed for further research, development, and ground-breaking treatments for children born with congenital heart defects. Please consider supporting us, every little bit will help. Thank you!!
