Heather Goes to South Africa!

First of all, I am in awe every single day of how Jesus moves. God has always given me incredible opportunities in my life and working at Hume Lake Christian Camps for 4 summers is one of those. Hume Lake has been a part of my life since I was 10-years-old, as a camper, and has a huge place in my heart.  It never ceases to amaze me how God truly gives us the desires of our hearts. I have always loved and desired to work in youth ministry in some capacity and He has always provided. It is beautiful and inspiring to watch young adults and children be in love with and profess the name of their creator. I am thankful everyday that I get the chance to be a volunteer in youth ministry, as well as work with high school aged students.

Hume International has been taking teams and putting on camps to help impact lives in other countries for years and I have been given the opportunity to partner with them and Jabulani African Ministries this June!!!! From June 13-23 I will be part of team who will be putting on a camp for high school aged students in the Transkei. This will be an incredible time to have fun with the students and present the gospel.  Every year at Hume Lake Christian Camps, there is a missions speaker who will come and present what they are doing overseas and give the campers a taste of what is happening in another country, with kids their age. When I was a camper, I would sit there in amazement and happiness realizing that the students in the video I was watching were learning about Jesus and having a real camp experience, just like we were. Unfortunately, they didn’t get the luxury of going back home to a “comfy bed” or “comfy lifestyle”, but some having no homes and some raising their families alone. The best part of it all is that we serve a great God and He commissions us to profess His name to the world. With that, we may not all have the same “lifestyles”, but we pray that we all get the opportunity to love the same LORD.

Thank you for taking time to read this and if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact me at . If you so feel lead to donate, you can do so at my gofundme page or contact me if you would like to send a donation. The deadlines will approach quickly, but the Lord is faithful and I believe He will provide.
