Nutritious food 4 families in Haiti

The Sailer family is heading to Haiti to support Second Mile Haiti, a nonprofit working to alleviate problems of malnutrition, food insecurity, and health illiteracy in Northern Haiti. Second Mile operates a 22-bed malnutrition rehabilitation center where the they work to help children regain their health while empowering caregivers through health education, business opportunities, and agricultural training.

During the Sailer's trip they will:

1) Lay the framework for future community (Loveland) transformation trips.
2) Build an wood-fired griddle at the Second Mile center in order to help the organization produce food, create jobs, and generate income.
3)Improve the existing sustainability projects at Second Mile. The Sailers will provide training sessions for the Second Mile staff to improve their gardening, composting, and husbandry techniques.

Second Mile is currently producing yogurt, honey, and some vegetables, but dreams of a larger garden with more plant varieties, a greater abundance of food, healthier animals, and more-income generating activities. Second Mile is requesting the support of the Sailers to help further the sustainability of the organization.

With the help of generous friends, most of the trip has been funded.  The Sailers need a bit more to be able to purchase their tickets and get on the plane to help in Haiti!
