Nursing placement to Zambia
My name is Leah, I am currently a second year student studying Children’s Nursing in Queens University Belfast. As part of my degree I have been given this opportunity to partake in an international placement in Lusaka, Zambia. I am going with a group in November 2020 for 4 weeks. This placement is completely self funded and is an amazing opportunity for me as a student nurse to see and help in a hospital In the developing world.
I am so thankful that I have been given this once in a life time opportunity to learn more about the local culture, see how staff work under pressure with limited resources and most importantly to apply my practice to help those in need.
this experience will be amazing but also very difficult. I will see things I won’t have seen in hospitals in Northern Ireland, such as conditions like malaria and severe malnutrition. I will be faced with challenges that will certainly help me gain new skills and see hospitals from a different perspective.
As this is a self funded placement any money I raise will be put towards travel costs, accommodation costs and other living costs.
Any donations would be very much appreciated no matter how big or small. It is ultimately helping me in my dream to go to Zambia.
Thank you.
