Nursing in South Africa

As many of you know, I've found my passion in nursing. I was recently fortunate enough to have been invited to attend the International Scholar Laureate Program Delegation on Nursing & Health Care in South Africa in May 2018. With this opportunity, I will get to intimately explore the unique aspects of nursing in this beautiful country and gain invaluable, hands-on experience in hospitals and other health facilities that make up its complex health care system. Part of our focus will be on working with nurses and medical staff who test, counsel, and care for patients at the Hillcrest AIDS Center Trust. Another primary aspect will be learning from and being trained by the sangomas (natural healers) in a traditional Zulu village.

Nursing is what I am meant to do. This kind of worldly experience will benefit me immeasurably in my growth as a nurse, thereby drastically increasing the care of my future patients. I am willing to do whatever it takes to take advantage of this opportunity in the field that I've so fallen in love with, but I need a little help to make it happen. The program tuition is $3,495.00 and travel expenses are $1,700.00. Any donation toward helping me reach my goal would mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
