I am currently a freshman at San Francisco State University and I am looking for funds to fund me to attend Universitiy of California, Berkeley this summer for their summer sessions which would allow me to attend my Atlantis Project Internship to Lithuania's Vilnuis University Children's Hospital in July because only the course dates for UCB work with the internship dates, July 24, 2016-August 13, 2016.
I have already been accepted to their competitive program whom only accepts roughly 300 students per summer from the United States. The only thing preventing me from going and allowing me to see healthcare being provided across the seas is: money.
Finances has been very unfortunate for my family and I. We are a single family household with only my mother, grandmother, and I. My mother was laid off August of 2015 before me attending SFSU, so even attending college was an unknown. I, myself, struggle with anxiety, depression, and panic disorder, and have fought pass it to get into college and now go abroad. I have been to the hospital/ER many times and know the feeling of being a patient. I aim to use this compassion seeing how it feels to be a patient to be a gentle and loving nurse to those I encounter. My grandmother is ailing with arthritis, on the verge of surgery. Along with my mother who also needs surgery for her hearing loss in her left ear. Our one family car has many break problems that we cannot get resolved because of financial hardship. Our family is at the mercy of what the government provides for us and God.
I aspire to become a registered nurse here in California and for the rest of the world. Talking with the admissions counselor at the nursing school I wish to attend, solidified my conviction that going to Atlantis Project to serve as an intern for young babies and children which will also help my application as I aim to apply this Fall 2016. But now because of the lack of money this has jeopardized my chances of becoming a nurse to serve people, my calling from the Lord.
I have been praying that this is God's will. He made my summer schedule work out which is something money could not buy. Classes were of first priority and because of the classes provided at UC Berkeley and their schedule, it allowed me to apply for AP. After the long interview process and essay in the application, my application was reviewed and I was accepted on April 25, 2016. Now what stands in the way is this sum of money. I do not think it is bigger than what God can conquer. And if possible, with His people, allow this opportunity to go across the seas and the receive an education provided at this wonderful university, give me a chance to go to nursing school at Samuel Merritt or anywhere else which ultamitely will help me become a loving nurse and heal those around me, my family, friends, and strangers.
